The Producers

Thanks to all who came out to audition. We are thrilled to bring this fun musical comedy to the Harrell Theatre stage!

Show dates are July 12-21, 2018 with shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM. We will also have a Pay What You Can Night on Thursday, July 18, 2019.

Failing producer Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) and his accountant, Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick), scam a group of elderly women out of their nest eggs by convincing them to invest in a horrendously offensive Third Reich-themed musical secretly intended to bomb the moment it opens. But when high-brow Broadway audiences mistakenly assume "Springtime for Hitler" is a satire, Bialystock finds himself with the critical acclaim that has long eluded him -- and the biggest hit of his career.

Pay What You Can Night is Thursday, February 21, 2019

Truvy Jones – Renee Davis Brame

Annelle Dupuy-Desoto – Nichol Pritchard

M’Lynn Eatenton – Meghan Lewis

Ouiser Boudreaux – Sally Stover

Clairee Belcher – Randi Sluder

This show is directed by Jaclyn Suffel and stage managed by Marya Paolillo.

The play opens with discussion of Shelby’s wedding day to her fiancé, Jackson, in the fictional northwestern Louisiana parish of Chinquapin at Truvy’s in-home beauty parlour where the women regularly gather. It covers events over the next three years with Shelby’s Type 1 diabetes and how the women interact at times with conflict but in the end resolved friends: Shelby’s decision to have a child despite the complication that could result from her condition, Clairee’s friendship with the curmudgeon OuiserAnnelle’s transformation from a shy, anxious newcomer in town to a good-time girl then repentant revival-tent Christian; and Truvy’s relationships with the men in her family. Although the main storyline involves Shelby, her mother M’Lynn, and Shelby’s medical battles, the underlying group-friendship among all six women is prominent throughout the drama.
